INSPIRATION: Located in the heart of Washington, DC’s Shaw neighborhood, the project celebrates the adaptive reuse of the historic Holzbeierlein Bakery Building, a registered landmark and one of the city’s oldest bakeries. The design preserves the building’s original architecture and character while reimagining it as a contemporary mixed use destination.
Inspired by Shaw’s creative energy, the interiors are vibrant, colorful, and alive—layering expressive artwork, warm woods, rich textures, and subtle industrial details. Historic elements such as exposed brick and metal finishes are balanced with modern furnishings and lighting, creating a dynamic connection between past and present. The result is a lively, welcoming environment that honors the building’s legacy while embracing modern urban living.
